Fright Club: Horror Movie Bracket 2026. Effective September 27, 2026.

Fright Club (fright-club.com) is a free, non-commercial horror movie bracket run for an October work event. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect only what's needed to let you vote, and we never sell or share your information.

Information we collect

You can browse the bracket, schedule, and results without an account. If you sign in to vote, we collect:

Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL from your Google account. If you sign up with email, we collect the name, email address, and password you provide. Passwords are stored securely (hashed) by our authentication provider, and we can never see them.
A user ID. Each account is assigned a random ID that isn't tied to your name in the voting data.
Your votes. Which movie you picked in each matchup, and when your ballot was last updated.
Basic technical information. Like most websites, the services that host the site may log your IP address, browser type, and the time of your visit as part of normal operation and security.

We do not access your Google contacts, files, calendar, or any other Google data beyond your basic profile (name, email, and profile picture).

How we use your information

To sign you in and keep you signed in.
To make sure each person casts only one ballot.
To show your name at the top of the page while you're signed in, so you know which account you're voting with. Your name is only shown to you.
To count votes. Vote totals and percentages are shown to everyone, but individual ballots are linked only to a random user ID, never to your name or email.
To let the organizer identify who has admin access to run the bracket.

We don't use your information for advertising, profiling, or marketing, and we don't send you emails except the account emails our sign-in provider may send (such as a password reset you request).

Use of Google user data

Fright Club's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google sign-in data only to authenticate you and to enforce one ballot per person. We do not transfer it to others, use it for ads, or use it to train AI or machine learning models.

Services we use

We rely on a few third-party services to run the site. Each handles data under its own privacy policy:

Supabase stores account information and votes, and handles sign-in.
Google provides "Continue with Google" sign-in.
GitHub Pages hosts the website files.
Google Fonts and jsDelivr deliver fonts and code libraries to your browser, which means they receive your IP address when the page loads.

We don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't share it with anyone else unless required by law.

Cookies and local storage

When you sign in, a session token is saved in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't use analytics.

How long we keep your information

Fright Club runs through October 2026. We plan to delete accounts and votes after the event wraps up, and no later than December 31, 2026. You can ask us to delete your account and votes sooner at any time.

Your choices

You can browse without signing in.
You can sign out at any time using the link at the top of the page.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information by emailing us at the address below.
If you signed in with Google, you can remove Fright Club's access anytime at myaccount.google.com/connections.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database rules ensure people can only change their own ballot, and only the organizer can change results. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Fright Club is intended for adults participating in a workplace event. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here and change the effective date above.
